Darwin Hobbs is one of the most respected and sought after recording artists and Worship Pastors in Gospel music. His inimitable, supple tenor has provided a rich backdrop to hundreds of recordings by artists including Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay, Amy Grant, Natalie Grant, Michael Card, Bebe & Cece Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Michael McDonald, Donna Summer, Chris Tomlin, and countless others.
In the late 90s, Darwin Hobbs was signed to EMI Gospel Records (now Motown Gospel). He released seven solo albums, each solidifying his status as a “singer’s singer” who always delivers an atmosphere-shifting music and worship experience. After leaving EMI, Hobbs released Champion: Live through a joint venture deal with Universal Music. That album won a Stellar Gospel Music Award for Praise & Worship CD of the Year.
Hobbs is known, respected and appreciated for his ability to create a worship experience that literally changes lives and impacts the overall worship “culture” of the church. He has served as Worship Pastor and/or Creative Director at some of the country’s largest, most progressive churches. Currently, Hobbs is Creative Arts Consultant and Worship Leader at the 38,000 member Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, New York; and also, at Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, MD.
“One of the largest assignments on my life is to perpetuate a concept that I call Heart Art,” says Hobbs. “This is a process of training and developing both the heart and art of worship within the local church.” Hobbs believes the most effective worshippers are those who are intentional about perfecting both the heart, through intimate relationship with the FATHER, and the art (music) of worship.
Darwin Hobbs and his wife Traci (McCloud) are natives of and currently reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. The inseparable pair have been best friends since fifth grade AND after more than 20 years of marriage, the couple welcomed their first child…a baby girl in May of 2014, Bethany Lennox Grace.
